There has been an update. When you start VP4 Online, the installer will download and run automatically. Once the install completes, you should be able to log in and play normally.
Notes:
- If VP4 Online is already running, you must exit the program and restart it from the icon. Otherwise, the update won’t install and you won’t be able to log in.
- If you have the full version, it’s best to uninstall all VP4 versions, download the latest full installer (same version number) that includes the new Online update, and reinstall.
- If you run into any issues, please contact Message Support.

Anyway after about 2 hours I give up again. I've updated, re-installed, uninstalled, etc but only the offline version works and not the online. The re-occuring problem seems to be
"VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found"
I feel like I'm wasting my time poking around here so I'll stop trying. Please let me know if a fix is found.
Dwight
My problem was solved by installing Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable. I'm back online now.
Can you please stop forcing these updates all the time? These new installers won't work in Linux, it downloads the update and then crashes, they used to work before. It's too much work each time there is an update! I can make it work but I don't know if it's worth it after every minor change. I can't just update, I have to make a fresh install every time you've updated...New virtual environment, install all dependencies, Install VP...It's a pain in the ass.
--- Edit ---
OK. I've found a better way to deal with updates for the future, no need for a complete reinstall... Problems solved.
The VP4-Online update Ver-4680 isn't working. Yes I did the dnld, install, modify, repair, with reboot 3 times.
Did Uninstall both VP4 and Online then reloaded ver-4170 with reboot. Off-line works, Online will not. Tried loading the OnLine game, Ver-4680update ZIP downloads but does nothing.
I can login to my profile which is not connected to the Lobby, I believe.
This is oddly similar issue to update of ver-4170. Hummm, D.E.I.?
try installing microsoft visual c++
Did, rebooted, didn't work.
Maybe it'll work after we get hit by the coming tornadoes?
FOUND IT... stopped using LAUNCH.exe and made a shortcut for VP4 Online.
Seems as long as I use LAUNCH it won't keep me connected in the LOBBY.
DEI???
A minor issue is that VP4 Online while in-game it tries to download the Steam version update and for players who do not have the Steam version, it exits with a message "the code execution cannot proceed because steam_api64.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem". Launcher.exe tries to launch the Steam version instead. Same for the desktop icon and directory after installation. You have to launch manually in the game folder the file vp4online.exe instead of vp4onlineS.exe for game to run
I think yesterdays update is now causing a few problems...
3 hours ago it ws fine.
VP4 is down
Updating VP4 Online - Connection Failed
Servers or link to servers are not working; try again later.
10 days later ... here we go again. This is getting ridiculous. I wonder what's up this time :(
It says I'm not online or else the server is down. I'm guessing it's the latter.
Does anyone know what's going on with the server problems, or are any players online? I only reactivated my VP4 a few days ago and haven't been on it for years. I want to rule out that the connection problem is on my end. An answer would be much appreciated. Thanks.server problems, come back later!
Same problem for all of us gamblercue
UPDATE - it's fixed now
THX ...
WELL MARTHA.... here we go agian.
Start the Offline game, load where I left off and the game crashes. But this issue is repeatable.
I do Graphics and have to change the screen resolution. When I return to VP4 Offline "PRO TOUR" and return where I left off, VP shuts off. Open any other part of the game other than PRO TOUR, no issues. Do the resolution change and BANG, there's the issue.
So what I surmise is the Player Name I created is now Corrupt.
Did the REPAIR, MODIFY and RELOAD, no change. When I DELETE that Player Name and create same name player, no issues, I have to start from scratch... IRRITATING to put it mildly.
I've been doing Graphics almost as long as VP, I've always changed Resolutions without issues. Obviously these updates are screwing up the games software.
"Bonzo's not happy."
Hello,
I am experiencing a recurring crash issue in Virtual Pool 4 Online.
The game runs perfectly fine with most players, but it consistently crashes when I try to play with certain specific players. It is always the same players that trigger the crash, while others cause no issues at all.
Based on testing, this seems to be related to how player data is handled. It looks like there may be a problem with data processing or encoding, possibly linked to player profiles or names. The behavior suggests that some player data may be causing a conflict or corruption that leads to the crash.
For reference:
- The crash occurs in vp4online.exe
- Exception code: 0xc0000409
I have already tested multiple configurations (network, system settings, drivers), and the issue is reproducible only with specific players.
Could you please investigate whether certain player data or profiles might be causing instability?
Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
Laurent
