Drills to For Getting Better at VP4 and RL Pool

Getting better at pool both in Real Life (RL) and Virtual Pool can be challenging. Playing a lot is a great way to improve. But there comes a point where you may want to do more focused training and drills are a great option. When playing online difficult situations come up once and a while, whereas drills provide difficulty all the time.

Virtual Pool 4 Online now has a Drills tab on the Watch page. To use the drills you must have VP4 Offline. If you don’t currently have VP4 Offline and are a premium online member, login to vponline.celeris.com, go to the Store and put Virtual Pool 4 into the cart. Note that the price will be discounted from the listed price because you are a premium member.

To use the drills login to VP4 Online, click on Watch, then the Drills tab. The drills are default sorted by difficulty, easiest first. Even if you are a good player I recommend starting with Novice difficulty drills (1 star). The Drills list can be filtered by difficulty using the filter drop down.

Using the internal browser is easiest because the drills will automatically load and start in VP4 Offline. The external browser will download the drill file to your download directory, then you must double click to load it into VP4 Offline. You can set the browser used in Settings/Misc/Browser.

Each drill has a description on how to do the drill. To do the drill select the icon or title and when the drill loads in VP4 Offline switch to that window and go for it! If you mess up, the drill can be restarted by keying CTRL-Backspace. Note that there is an issue doing this with drills that have the game engine on.

Doing drills can be trying. If you get frustrated, take a break, come back to it later, maybe try another drill. I can guarantee doing these drills will improve your game. If your a RL player then try them there too.

A big thanks to SemiPro for creating the drill files!

    Hi Semipro.

I am Vanwinkle. I play mostly snooker. I have in the past created many snooker drills. They include a line-up, the "tough table challenge" (did Stephen Hendry steal this from you?). Also a "T" Line-up, an "X" Line-up, and two versions of what I have seen called a "ladder" drill. They exist in my offline game as .vpp files. If you are interested in these (there may be a few more as well) I am happy to share them with you (and therefore with the VP community.) If you are interested, please message me back, and PLEASE give me some methods of sending them. If the VP message system can handle the size, I can do that. I can certainly email them to any address you designate, and I have a dropbox account where I can upload them and send you links, as long as I know where to send the links to. You would be free to use them exactly "as is" or you could also load them in trick shot mode if you wanted to make any adjustments.

Ike (known in VP as Vanwinkle)
