Virtual Pool 4 Online – Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Virtual Pool 4. This is the quick start guide which takes you through a step by step process of getting started as well as answering some of the more common questions. Simply follow the instructions or click the video links to watch a demonstration.

From the Home Page http://vponline.celeris.com select the 'Register to play' button in the upper left hand corner.



This is where you select a player name and provide a contact email address for verification. You may also upload a profile picture or link to your own web site. On completion of the registration form you will be taken to the log in page. Having first verified your account via the confirmation email, you may then log in for the first time. On doing so you will be prompted to download the Virtual Pool 4 Online client, please do this as it is necessary to play. When the download completes instructions on how to run the VP4 Online client installer for your browser are shown.





Step 2: Log in and start playing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWPEKidy1KE

Log In - Installation of the game produces a desktop icon. Double click this icon and click on the 'Login to Online' button at the top of the menu. Here you will need to re-enter your email address and password before clicking the 'Login' button on the bottom right hand corner. Note this is the same email and password used for vponline.celeris.com.


You are now in the Virtual Pool 4 online lobby.


Here you can chat with other players by typing in the 'Message' box at the bottom. Players currently online are listed on the right hand side. Clicking a name will provide more information about the player.

There is also a browser as part of VP4 Online, here you will find a host of useful information including your profile, player statistics, the tournament calendar, support page and replay theatre. Pressing CTRL-Z toggles back and forth between the vponline.celeris.com website and the lobby. Note that you are also logged into the website too once you login to the VP4 Online client.

The tabs at the top will navigate through the available game rooms. Match rooms are for longer format games or wager matches, Challenge rooms work on a 'winner stays on' basis, Tournament, Ladder and League rooms list active Tournament, Ladder and League matches.

Start Playing -

First you need to create or join a room. Creating your own room can be done by clicking the 'Create Room Button', centre right of the lobby window. Change the Room Type to Challenge Room, then you can set any other game options you wish. Note that only Premium players have access to all options, Player Gratis can only play 9-Ball, 8-Ball, and 6-Ball in the Garage on a Bar Table. Press OK to enter the room and start playing.

Once in a room you will be automatically put to the table when it is your turn. Failure to act will produce a beep after a few seconds if you are in any doubt.

At any time you may press 'F1' to toggle a quick list of the keys. A full in game menu is obtained by pressing 'ESCAPE'.

To rotate the view around the cue ball and aim a shot simply move the mouse left or right.

'E' - Select the spin you wish to use by holding the 'E' key and moving the mouse.

'S' - Strike the ball by holding the 'S' key and pulling the mouse towards you, this will draw the cue stick back. Push the mouse forward to stroke the cue stick forward and hit the cue ball. The faster you move the mouse, the harder you hit the cue ball.


Useful keys:

To obtain a 'free look' hold the 'V' key. You may now move the point around which the view rotates. Move the yellow ring to a new point and move the view without effecting the aligned shot. Return to your cue by pressing the 'A' key

'M' – Press and hold to move the cue ball after a foul or when breaking

'X' – hold down to obtain overhead view

'B' – To elevate the butt of the cue. Useful for masse shots or when the butt is tight up against a ball or rail.

'/' - Press to initiate chat in a game room

'Alt' – Press once to enable mouse pointer. Useful for viewing player information or toggling between room chat and lobby chat tabs.

'Ctrl Z' – toggle between lobby or game rooms to the internal browser.

'Esc' – bring up the in game menu. This has game options and is also where you can quit the game and leave the room.


There are moderators available to help with any further questions you may have or to report any issues. You will find their names in red in the lobby player list. VP4 is a friendly community and you will also find answers to most of your questions by asking in the lobby, as well as finding like minded people to chat with. There is also a substantial amount of information on the website. The internal browser (CTRL Z) will take you to the home page, click the Support tab for FAQ's, video tutorials, game rules and much much more.
